Because of problems with Spam accounts, we've begun using a CAPTCHA filter on new registrations, where you need to enter some characters from an image - a common precaution on many websites nowadays. We hope this makes it easier to register on this website and download GeoWeed.

Well, it happened - a spambot penetrated this website and left a lot of undesirable forum posts. I think we've removed all of them, as well as the dozens of fake users created by the spambot.

However, we could have accidentally deleted some real user accounts, in particular accounts created in early May of 2009. If this affected you, please just recreate your account.

New accounts will need sysop approval for now, unfortunately. We'll put another solution into place later.

We are working on compatibility with ArcPad 7.1 in the upcoming 3.3.7 release!

GeoWeed development has been slow since some of our funding was frozen late last due to the California State budget crunch. we have nevertheless been working on a 3.3.7 release in conjunction with supporting the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and Point Reyes National Park, which we hope to release fairly soon. We hope to resume other development as state funding is unfrozen and bond money percolates back down to, or as we get other funding or contracts.

We have a new version of GeoWeed to be released on this website!

Along with various bug fixes and improvements, it has two new features which have excited some of our early users.

GeoWeed development continues, with a beta release of version 3.3.5 to selected partners for feedback. This version may not become a general release, as we are already working on version 3.3.6 with a few more fixes and enhancements.

Some explanation is in order. The development version of GeoWeed gets small fixes and enhancements in house on an ongoing basis. Internally we have versions like 3.3.4f2 and so on, for minor changes. In general, we give it a new three-number version designation like 3.3.5 whenever we release a version to anybody outside SEC, so we can track it.
